Handpainted and mounted on pieces of old wood, old boards, dried-doors, sheds and fences, in general, on everything that comes to the skillful hands of a self-taught artist. These funny sculptures of animals with the expressive faces remind us ordinary people. Besides, they are unique, as there is only one of each type. One of the characters is “like my neighbor”, the artist jokes.
Born in 1981 in Grottaglie, Taranto, Giorgio Di Palma is a talented Italian artist. In fact, he hasn’t had any training in art institutes and academies. Giorgio Di Palma graduated from the Faculty of Archaeology and his previous experience was a computer programmer in Budapest. According to the artist, he loves painting, and his dog Lucky, the main inspiration for the artist and a prototype of characters of his imagination.

According to Giorgio di Palma, one day in 2009 he decided to return home and realize his dreams in paper and ceramics. As a result, Di Palma opened a small shop with limited production. Generally, Giorgio di Palma has been working with ceramics since 2010, and this passion origins in the traditions of his family. In particular, his father had been engaged in working with ceramics for 50 years, as well as other ceramists from the village of Grottaglie. And he has just developed his own style.

Noteworthy, the artist is creative not only in sculpting his charizmatic animals, but also in titles to them. And I really enjoyed reading them. For example, “I’ll take you to the sea”, “The photo of the 300th birthday”, “Candies from strangers”, “A worrying letter sent on November 14th”, etc.
