Photo artist Anka Zhuravleva
Russian artist, freelance photographer Anka Zhuravleva was born Anna Belova on December 4, 1980. She spent her childhood in creative atmosphere, her mother was an artist and architect. Following her mother’s steps Anna entered the Moscow Architectural Institute (1997). Her life dramatically changed at the end of 1997, when her mother, diagnosed with cancer, died. In a year her father died too. Anna had to survive, while studying at the institute – she worked as a tattoo artist, worked at several modeling agencies. Her photos appeared in the Playboy and XXL magazines and at the Playboy 1999 photo exhibition. But she was not looking for a modeling career – it was just a way to make some money.
In 2001 one of her friends invited her to spend a week-end in Saint-Petersburg with his friend, composer and musician Alexander Zhuravlev. In less than a month Anna Belova left Moscow for Saint-Petersburg and became Anka Zhuravleva. In 2006 Anka decided to take up photography. Since that time she participated in numerous photo exhibitions, art projects – magazine’s publications, book and CD covers. In 2013 Anka with her husband Alexander Zhuravlev moved to live in Porto, Portugal.
