Russian artist Andrei Markin
Born in 1976 in the village of Andreevka Moscow region, Andrei grew up in the family of artist Victor Markin. Since early childhood he was familiar with the smell of paints, and his first models were his favourite toys. At first he drew pictures in pencil, then started to paint. He also had a lot of albums for colouring. According to the artist, through coloring different pictures and patterns he learnt to be accurate in work. “Just paint within the lines”, – I kept telling myself”. In 1991 he graduated from Zelenograd art school and entered the Moscow Art School, where he was taught by Honored Artist of Russia Mikhail Kugach. In 1994, Andrei entered the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Glazunov. In 2000 he graduated from the Russian Academy of Art.

Noteworthy, the artist painted still life with flowers, which he bred mainly himself. His painting technique was experienced as refined and evaluated as fully true to nature. The painter, in particular, focused on landscapes, flowers, fruit and dead animals. His instructor was Antonie Piera, but he often imitated the Dutch painters, such as Jan van Huijsum (April 15, 1682, Amsterdam – February 8, 1749, Amsterdam), and Jan van Os (23 February 1744 – 7 February 1808). Cats in Manezh art exhibition
The announced exhibition of contemporary Russian art will take place in Moscow “New Arena” before the New Year. According to RIA Novosti, the organizers dedicated the art exhibition to the most popular characters of network space in recent years – cats. In particular, about 80 contemporary Russian artists will present their works for the exhibition “Cats in the Manezh”. And many of them – made specifically for the project. Meanwhile, the works will represent various genres: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video and art installation. Among the participants of the exhibition are Tselkov, Oscar Rabin, Pavel Pepperstein, Tatiana Akhmetgalieva, Vlad Kul’kov, Rostan Tavasiev and more. The exhibition will take place from 30 December 2014 to 20 January 2015.

Art historian found missing painting in film
Budapest based Art historian Gergely Barki has found the missing painting of the 1920s while watching children’s film, according to Vanity Fair. Employee of the National Gallery in Budapest, art expert Gergely Barki and his daughter watched the movie “Stuart Little”, filmed in 1999. Meanwhile, in one scene, he noticed a painting of the Hungarian avant-garde artist Robert Bereny called “Sleeping woman with black vase.” “The picture appears in the film several times, so I was able to make sure I was not going crazy,” – said Barki about the find.

“Drunk Fall” is the recent work of Chinese professional artist Illustrator Zhao Na. The autumn fruit tree in the inspirational painting of Zhao Na is the emboidiment of generosity of mother Earth, the home of all living creatures. And, besides, it is like a tree of life. Here on the branches of a huge tree are lying beautiful wildlife animals – leopard, koala, monkey, and panda intoxicated by the aromas of sweet ripe fruit.
Born in 1983 in Liaoning province, China, Zhao Na graduated from Beijing College of Art and Design in 2002. In addition, she studied at the Mural Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, from which she graduated in 2006. Noteworthy, upon the graduation from the Academy the talented artist got Confucius Award of Excellence. Artworks of Chinese Illustrator Zhao Na are often exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in China.

Vrubel also fell in love with the singer’s voice Zabela, and having seen her only once, he immediately offered her to become his wife. Their love was like a fairy tale. It failed to fade even during the tragic illness of Vrubel.

People’s Artist of Russia, professor of Moscow State University of Printing, Boris Arkadievich Diodorov is an outstanding children’s book illustrator whose works – remembered for a lifetime. In particular, children in many countries love his illustrations of Andersen’s fairy tales.
Noteworthy, in 2001, Boris Diodorov received the Grand Prix of Hans Christian Andersen from the hands of Princess of Denmark. Nominated for the Gold Medal of Andersen in 2000, he won the Grand Prix of Andersen in Odense in 2001. Besides, he received an honorary diploma on Andersen’s 50-year anniversary in 2002. And in 2003 he became president of the fund of Andersen in Russia. Besides, in 2005, Denmark granted him the honorary title of “Ambassador of Andersen in Russia”.
