Children People jewelry art by Yuri Yermakov
Russian geologist and self-taught jeweler Yuri Yermakov has always looked for the freedom of expression. And he found it in the immediate and bold children’s drawings of his daughter Eva. The artistic duo with his 6-year-old daughter resulted in the new recognition and success.
Children People jewelry art collection was awarded a silver medal at the international competition of jewelry and lapidary art in 2010. Yuri Yermakov admits that he fell in love with the stone in his youth. While still a student, along with geologists he mined in the Magadan region. Not only he mined stones, he penetrated the mystery of the divine pictures, hidden under a gray crust of Chukchi, Ola, Arman agates.
Later, studying at the Faculty of Geology at Moscow State University, he became an art lover, and most of all he was attracted by the stone-cutting works of the great Russian masters of 19-20 century. He was influenced by the original sculpture of our contemporaries – Penza sculptors Herman Feoktistov and Pavel Groza. Their bronze animalistic monochrome painted statuettes were lack of semi-precious colored stones. Gems not only give color, but also revive bronze. Thus appeared now already famous among collectors and experts a series of animalistic works, awarded first-degree certificate and a cash prize at the exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Carl Faberge in 1996. Yuri Yermakov was among co-authors of this artistic stone-cut collection.
