Embroidered paintings by American artist Sophia Narrett

Embroidered paintings by Sophia Narrett. Talented American artist Sophia Narrett creates amazing paintings where the paint as if flows down the canvas. All the magic of her paintings opens, you only if you get closer – in fact, the pictures of Sofia are not painted but skillfully embroidered. Sophia Narrett started as a painter, focusing on narrative figure painting. Then she realized she wanted a different kind of physical engagement with the materials, and started working in thread. Sofia decided to combine painting and embroidery – and now, instead of brush strokes on the canvas she prefers stitches of different thickness and texture of the yarn, which add volume and layers to her paintings. From a distance, the picture of Sofia looks like oil painting, and this optical illusion gives her paintings a special charm.

British mixed media artist Anya Stone has 15 years of experience in fine art and design. She makes life-like, detailed miniature sculptures of wildlife out of polymer clay in 1:12 scale and smaller scales. Wood, synthetic fibers or feathers are applied to sculpture to make them look realistic. The sculpture of a gray wolf (in the above picture) is made from polymer clay with different shades of hand blended merino wool applied to the body. The eyes are made of green glass. Height 6cm at the shoulder. Traditionally Lupercus was known as the God of winter and has the ability to transform into a wolf. It is said that his day falls between the 2nd and 15th of February, so he is associated with Valentines day, especially in the times of ancient Rome. Lupercus is sometimes identified with the Roman God Faunus and is a protector of flocks and shepherds who drives away the wolves and dangers of the night.

An eagle. Work by American self-taught paper artist Maude White

Paper artist Maude White
American self-taught artist Maude White has created an art gallery of intricate fairy characters, birds, and animals. Maude came from a family of visual storytellers. Her mother and sister are both toy makers who influenced her. She enjoyed working with paper even in her childhood, attracted by the stark contrast between the black and white paper.
“With paper cutting there are so many opportunities to create negative space that tells its own story, just by letting the observer become present in the piece, by allowing him or her to look through it. I like that.”
Currently, the artist is working on an exhibition to be shown in Buffalo, NY in September.

The ads were also viewed by thousands of people on YouTube. These cute white creatures with ballooned bodies and egg heads are used to promote various value added services of Vodafone. Although these characters look animated, they are actually humans in Zoozoo costumes. The idea – the story lines and the name belongs to Rajiv Rao. According to Rajiv Rao, National Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather, they “wanted to make real people look as animated as possible”. Vodafone received the first People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) 2009 Glitterbox Award, for replacing the Pug with more humane alternatives in their ads.
