Golden Book by Charley Harper
Born in Frenchton, West Virginia on August 4, 1922, Harper is a talented modernist artist best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations. During his career, Harper illustrated numerous books, notably The Golden Book of Biology. As his subjects are mainly natural, with birds prominently featured, Charley often created works for many nature-based organizations. In particular, the National Park Service, Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Nature Center, Hamilton County (Ohio) Park District, and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Pennsylvania. Also, Harper designed interpretive displays for Everglades National Park. Charley Harper died on Sunday, June 10, 2007 after contending with pneumonia for some months.

Born in Oakland, California, in 1940, Rowell was a talented landscape photographer. He has created an inspiring art gallery of landscape scenery from around the world, including portrait and still life. Remembered as one of the best American landscape photographers, Rowell was in fact, a self-taught photographer.
According to his biography, Galen Rowell enjoyed a long marriage with Barbara Cushman, with whom he lived in California and had two children. In 2002, 62-year-old Rowell and his wife tragically died in an air crash between Alaska and California. In order to recognize the great and intangible value of his body of work, Galen Rowell posthumously entered the International League of Conservation Photographers (2009).

American self-taught artists of applied art Kiyoshi and his wife Emma create realistic miniature domestic and wild animals and life size sculptures of birds, entirely ​​of felt. The artistic duo work on their farm – Lucky Duck Farm in Illinois.
According to Mino, the desire to live on the farm appeared after he served in the army, in Afghanistan. It was there Kiyoshi saw village people growing all that they need in their gardens, grazing and gathering the harvest. According to the artist herself, Feathers are her paint. Noteworthy, Valentine has developed her own technique and style working in this art for more than twelve years. The gallery of her feather creatures include fabulous beasts – colorful bird-like dogs and cats with wings, lizards, and even aeroplanes.
Australian artist E. Valentine says: “I wish to stimulate the viewer with the uncomfortable nature of the feather, to question our callousness treatment of animals and birds, and ask how we sub-consciously classify animals – pet or pest, valued or worthless, beautiful or plain and why”. Emily got her Bachelor of Arts (Visual), graduating from Sydney College of the Arts majoring in Jewellery and Object design. Feather sculptures by Valentine – exhibited and awarded at numerous art exhibitions, mostly in Australia and New Zealand.
