Talented German artist Anne Siems was born and raised in Germany. In 1991 she graduated from Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin, specializing in Fine Arts. After graduation she left Germany for the United States to continue studying art in Seattle. Anne Siems is inspired by floral and fauna themes, illustrating the organic world of birds, butterflies, garlands, draperies, small landscapes, faces and dresses. The artist is influenced by the art of the European Masters, Early American Folk Art, as well as vintage and modern photography.
Anna Siems has her own unique style and technique of drawing. Her paintings are like media mixed collages composed of scientific illustration of old folios, variety of wreaths, garlands, flora and fauna, human figures and faces, which eventually transformed into one conceptual picture.
German artist Anne Siems is interested in the human figure and the attributes that surround it. These attributes reflect something about the being without giving a specific narrative. “Ideas about life and death, sensuality, sexuality, nature, experiences in the realm of dreams, psyche and spirit are my ongoing topic”. Anne Siems is a permanent participant of solo (more than 80) and various group exhibitions, mostly in the United States and Germany.
“All that I see, hear, touch, experience and dream moves into me and finds its way into my artwork. I love faces, bodies, gardens, wide open stretches of land with small forests and fields, old things that have had a life of their own, stories and all the realms in between. What I paint comes from an intuitive, visceral place. Elements found in my work through the years are there because they feel right; they have no specific symbolism. What you see is an open ended narrative, one that I invite you to enter into and complete or continue.”
