Belarusian artist Vikentiy Rozhko
Born in February 1948 in the village of Gerbelevichi of the Dyatlovo district, Vikentiy became interested in painting in early childhood. According to the artist, he received the first professional lessons in 9-10th grades from the artist-teacher Vladimir Zhuk, who came from Minsk to work in his school. Vikentiy recalls his teacher with great gratitude. After high school, the future artist entered the graphic arts department of the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute. He mastered the skill of oil painting in the workshop of famous Belarusian artist Nekrasov. Besides, his teacher on watercolor painting was one of the founders of the Belarusian watercolors – F. Gumen.
After graduating from teacher’s college Vikentiy taught fine arts at school, and since 1994 at Volkovissky college. The main genre of the artist – landscape (watercolor), however, he also paints portraits and household compositions. Among the well-known of his works are “Warm Morning”, “Landscape with the temple,” “After the Rain”, “Summer Melts”, “Anxious Night”, and “Portrait of a sister.”
Thanks to persistent work and the constant search, the artist mastered the secrets of watercolor painting. Member of Belarusian Union of artists, his paintings took part at the regional, national, union, and foreign exhibitions. Also, his works are in private collections in Poland, the Czech Republic, Canada, and Germany. The artist does not stop there, and plans to continue to delight fans with his painting.
