Born in the southern city of Stavropol, in 1963, Russian artist Sergei Isupov graduated from the Tallinn Art Institute in 1990 with a BA/MFA in Ceramics. In 1994 Sergei immigrated to the United States. Isupov calls himself a student of the universe. He is a part of the harmonic chaos of contrasts and opposites: dark – light; male – female; good – evil. Harmonic chaos – sculpture by Sergei Isupov, which consists of contradictions. He finds clay to be the most suited to the expression of his ideas. He considers his sculptures to be a canvas for his paintings.
