Coffee improvisations by Maria Skorodumova
Born in 1981 in the city of Kurgan, Russian artist Maria Skorodumova (nee Zaitseva) always loved to draw. Age 14, she graduated from Kurgan art school. Meanwhile, in 1998 Maria participated in the competition “Talented Children of Russia” (Moscow), where she won 3rd place in the category “Painting and Graphics.” Meanwhile, she entered the Faculty of Psychology of Kurgan State University, from which she graduated in 2004. However, she returned to the art and participated in exhibitions of amateur artists of Kurgan region. Thus, began her exhibition activity. In particular, in 2014 she participated in the international competition “Art Salon 2014”. Then, in September and October 2014 Maria had solo exhibition “Improvisation on a theme of coffee” in Ivanovo.
Illustrations of the author decorate several books and lots of postcards. Maria Skorodumova actively participates in creative competitions, festivals and projects. In addition, she conducts online course on development of creative imagination on her author’s program. Inm fact, Maria works in several directions: pointillism, symbolism, and naive art. Techniques used by the author, are also different: tempera painting, mixed media, drawing, collage, and batik.
