London based costume designer Michele Carragher studied fashion design at London College of Fashion. The studying included designing, cutting, designing of garments, embroidery and illustration. At the same time, she studied three years at evening classes at Cordwainers College, where she received her skills in the tanning industry. Embroidery art by Carragher is an award-winning – embroidered suits for the film Game of Thrones, as well as the costumes of Queen Elizabeth I, Prince of Persia. Carragher worked as a restorer of historic costumes for private collectors and museums, costumes for film and television.

Creative carpet installations
The trio of Dutch designers – Marcia Nolte, Stijn van der Vleuten and Bob Waardenburg create unusual art works in their studio ‘We Make Carpets’ in Amsterdam. Their carpet installations look like traditional carpets from a distance. But in fact consist of pencils and fireworks, cocktail umbrellas, plastic forks, dried pasta, and anything. Now the trio of designers ‘We Make Carpets’ mark the fifth anniversary of joint efforts and creation of 50 artworks.
Meanwhile, the recognition of their extraordinary creativity has become an exhibition at the museum in Eindhoven. The exhibition, called “Kneeling, we make carpets for five years” has attracted much attention. According to the artists, they wanted people to take a fresh look at those products. “We want them to become aware of their beauty. You don’t buy a paperclip because it’s beautiful, but it is.’

The story of French painter Lesage is the story of the occultist, spirit-medium, and artist. Of course, the artist in the first place, he is a classic in his field of art, which in itself is an unconventional and often plunges into a culture shock. Try to imagine the French mining town of the early twentieth century, to be exact – in 1911, when a hereditary miner, at least in the 3rd generation, suddenly hears a voice predicting his art future. The voice predicted him a change of occupations. The man who heard the voice of a new path – was Lesage (August 9, 1876 – February 21, 1954).

Born June 26, 1977 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Alexey Golovin grew up in the artistic family – his father Konstantin Golovin is an artist. Having graduated from the Crimean Art College (1997), Alexey Golovin entered the St. Petersburg Art Institute named after Ilya Repin (1998). Noteworthy, by the Decision of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts May 29, 2000 the talented student received his first award. In particular, the medal “For academic success.” Meanwhile, In 2006 he graduated from the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute, Department of monumental painting. He studied in the workshop of Academician of Arts, Professor A. A. Mylnikov. Alexey Golovin is a Member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

No Hallowe’en story can scare you more than the inhabitants of the real Japanese village of Nagoro, inhabited by weird life-size dolls of dead people. Slowly dying village, due to the natural death of its people, it is turning into a surreal puppet world of schoolchildren, teachers, and even a principal. Also, farmers working on the field, residents waiting for their bus at the bus stop, etc.
Everything in this scenery – a school, bus stop, field – handmade by a local craftswoman Ayano Tsukimi. She shares her thoughts and story in a 2014 documentary “The Valley Of Dolls” by Fritz Schumann.

In fact, Ukrainian artist Oksana Mas lives and works between Odessa, Stockholm, Barcelona and Moscow. She creates incredible egg portraits from hand-painted wooden eggs in mosaic technique. Her unique artwork of Easter egg mosaics appeared at different art exhibitions, and in particular, in the Venice Biennale.
According to Oksana, she finds inspiration in traditional Ukrainian painted wooden eggs – krashenki. Noteworthy, Oksana doesn’t paint these eggs herself, they are already painted by different people to celebrate Easter, and she is just experimenting with them to create her art. So if you come close to the installation you may admire separate pieces of her creation, and the same pleasure you’ll have looking at the pictures at a distance.

According to belief, talented people are talented in everything. And Paula Swisher, American artist, professor at the University of Kutstauna, Pennsylvania just proves this.
In fact, she combines two worlds – the creative and the technical. The hand-drawn mark, grid-based design, and infographics are all things that keep her excited. Her colorful pencil and gouache drawings of beautiful birds on found paper – technical drawings, diagrams, old book pages, mails are impressive. According to Paula Swisher herself, she creates “visual metaphors”. Swisher teaches Web Design in the Art Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Paula holds an M.F.A. in Painting from Clemson University and a B.A. in Art from Houghton College.
