And an aura of mystery surrounds the weightless finest silk, with the secret of silk production for more than 5 000 years. In fact, it is as old as the Chinese civilization. Considered the attribute of luxury, richness and good flavor, Chinese art of silk embroidery has no equal in the world. Besides, a skillfully embroidered masterpiece is impossible to distinguish from a photograph or a painting at a distance of 2 steps.
Noteworthy, the history of silk embroidery on silk has more than 2000 years. Meanwhile, the three-dimensional image is achieved by using different thickness of the thread of the silkworm, laid in different directions. And the most difficult part – considered embroidery of eyes, face and hands.

Russian artist Stepan Nesterchuk
Born in 1978 in the town of Dmitrov, Stepan Nesterchuk is a member of the Artists Union of Russia (2006) and the International Federation of Artists. He graduated from the Moscow State Art industrial University of Stroganov (2002). Nesterchuk is a young artist, expressing himself in different directions of art – painting, drawing, photography and design. However, his favorite form of art is painting. According to the artist, since childhood, he has devoted much time to painting and for him it is the principal means of his expression. The main theme that runs in all directions of his work is interest to the heritage of the past. In particular, the old architecture and the common household items, in which he draws inspiration and new ideas.

To the question where the ideas for surrealism come from, we believe can only be two answers: from the inner and outer world. And the third world, born at the junction of the Worlds, due skill, is no less real than the first two. Heir to the ideas of the surrealist Max Ernst, Hillier creates stunning illustrations, based on his knowledge of biology, anatomy and Victorian prints mixing them into fantasy portraits. Ink, dip-nib pen, pencil and hard work – the main components of his art. Hillier has been working as a full-time artist since 2006. Artworks by Stoke Newington based artist Hillier were exhibited in such galleries as Saatchi Gallery in London, numerous galleries in France, the USA and Italy. Tattoo lovers often use his human-animal hybrids drawings as thumbnails for images on their body.

Chicago born self-taught artist and writer Edward Gorey was one of the most important figures in contemporary art. His black-and-white style illustrations decorated editions of such eminent writers as Edgar Allan Poe, HG Wells, TS Eliot, Samuel Beckett and John Updike. Noteworthy, Gorey was very fond of cats and even bequeathed his multi-million dollar state to the Animal Rights Society. Surprisingly, despite the artist’s love for cats, he portrayed them not very often. And if he did, it was only in anthropomorphic style, often in the form of dancers. Meanwhile, his dancing cats has become the real inspiration for jewelers. According to the artists, “Cats, like a ballerinas, extremely elegant, so I like to draw them dancing.”
