Well-known in Russia and abroad, Pavlovsky Posad Shawl Manufacture turns 220 this year. Passing from the hands of a mature artist, young people learn from the older generation, and also contribute to the treasury of traditional design new techniques. They create their own specific stylization of flowers, leaves and grass, composite filling a square, technology, printing and coloring. Indeed, by studying the techniques of the traditional approach to drawing a shawl, each author brings something new: his attitude, unique signature and style. Noteworthy, this takes many years of painstaking work. And one of the best representatives of the traditional Russian art is a local artist Valeria Fadeyeva.
Born in the Ukraine, the USSR Valeria was very active and energetic since childhood, engaged in gymnastics, running and scuba diving. However, all these activities were more interesting for her parents rather than for Valeria. Valeria did not understand the meaning of heavy physical exercise and all listed, instead preferred reading books. Apparently, she had a natural talent for drawing, which she had to develop.
According to Valeria, one day she saw something that was to become her destiny. In the saloon was an exhibition of fabrics and designs. Fabrics were beautiful. She met with artists, saw workshop with ready drawings and sketches and decided to go to “the city of textiles and brides” – Ivanovo. Four years of study at the Ivanovo College of Art and Industrial Design passed easily and invisibly. Valeria studied well, so she had the opportunity to choose a place for future work, and she chose Pavlovsky Posad.
Drawing on the snow-white surface of paper, she tries to fully express her idea, which seems to her the most important, the newest and the only correct one. The result is beautiful – touching flowers that bloom – roses, peonies and lilies. There will be many, they will bloom luxuriantly, and, looking at them, Valeria wants to draw a different, not at all similar to this pattern.
